This full-time, benefit-eligible General Manager role is based in Oregon (Portland/Salem) or Washington State, working Monday-Friday. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration or Business Administration.
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ managerial experience in laboratory administration and/or healthcare administration.
  • A valid driver’s license and an excellent driving record for the past three years.
  • Exceptional communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, under time constraints, without close supervision.

Nice To Haves

  • MBA or MHA preferred.
  • Previous experience in a clinical laboratory or other laboratory service organization.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the successful management and operations of up to five (5) practices across multiple states.
  • Manages a team of technical job functions within assigned practices, across multiple states.
  • Manages the recruitment, retention, training, orientation, discipline and evaluation of supervisory, clerical and technical associates in collaboration with Human Resources.
  • Establishes, implements, revises, and maintains policies and procedures related to operations.
  • Ensures employees are motivated and productive.
  • Delegates authority, prioritizes work activities, resolves problems, prepares schedules, and sets deadlines to ensure timely completion of work.
  • Orchestrates monthly staff meetings and routine physician management meetings.
  • Ensures staff completes proficiency, safety and other required trainings as required by the company and licensure.
  • Responsible for local physician management and administrative duties.
  • Assists senior management and physician leadership in developing short and long-range business plans to support the goals of the practices and company.
  • Directs the day-to-day operations of up to five (5) practices and establishes guidelines to prioritize work production, evaluate effectiveness, and improve the quality of services provided.
  • Implements AP operational Quality Assurance standards, and manages and measures AP productivity standards.
  • Engages in marketing activities to develop and maintain relationships, cultivate new business, and enhance the practices’ position in the marketplace.
  • Routinely evaluates and monitors practices expenses by department and implements appropriate actions based on variance to trends and budgets.
  • Ensures compliance with all regulatory agencies governing healthcare delivery and the rules of accrediting bodies.
  • Assures proper maintenance of laboratory and office equipment and approves ordering supplies and services.
  • Assures business unit compliance to AP’s centralized, in-house purchasing program.
  • Provides solutions to issues (e.g. profit decline, employee conflicts, loss of business to competitors); and guidance, resources, and support to Physicians, management and employees in the practices.
  • Controls staffing costs and growth by evaluating staffing ratios, competencies and requirements.
  • Oversees the business and financial affairs of the practices and fiscal management including accounting, budgeting, internal controls, and timely reporting to ensure that periodic and year-end goals are attained.
  • Shares management responsibility with centralized functional areas (e.g. Billing, IT, HR, Sales) and other functional areas of the local practices to resolve issues promptly.
