About The Position

General Manager – Diesel Repair Shop At Penn Power Group, we don't just service trucks—we support the businesses that keep America moving. With over 50 years of experience and leading presence in our markets, we offer a distinctly comprehensive range of commercial fleet services and products, including mobile fleet maintenance and repair capabilities; the highest level of OEM- Certified services for Allison Transmissions and Carrier Transicold; deep expertise in diesel engine repair for market leaders like Detroit Diesel; and full trailer repair and maintenance capabilities through our team of highly trained technicians. We're now seeking an experienced General Manager to lead daily operations, drive performance, and grow our reputation for quality and reliability. As our General Manager, you will oversee the entire shop operation — from workflow efficiency and team management to customer satisfaction and financial performance. You’ll be the go-to leader on the ground, ensuring that repairs are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in diesel repair or heavy truck service
  • 2+ years of leadership or management experience
  • Strong technical knowledge of diesel systems and diagnostics
  • Proven ability to lead teams and manage operations
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Experience with shop management software a plus
  • ASE certifications or diesel tech background a bonus

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage day-to-day shop operations
  • Supervise, coach, and support technicians and front-office staff
  • Oversee repair workflow, parts inventory, and scheduling
  • Drive customer satisfaction and resolve escalated issues
  • Track KPIs and implement performance improvements
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards
  • Manage P&L, budgeting, and cost control
  • Collaborate with ownership to develop strategic goals
