About The Position

MV Transportation is seeking a General Manager who will provide support, leadership and direction to an assigned operating location to ensure the delivery of annual business plans. This role involves controlling the daily operation of a transportation contract, ensuring compliance with contracting agency policies and company procedures. The General Manager will be responsible for effectively managing customer relations, identifying, selecting, training, and mentoring location staff, and communicating frequently with team members. Key duties include overseeing vehicle maintenance plans to ensure fleet availability, and managing safety and training programs to meet company, contract, and regulatory requirements. The position also entails maintaining routine client contact, conducting periodic departmental audits, and reviewing key operational metrics daily, weekly, and monthly. The General Manager must continuously manage location financial metrics, report exceptions, and develop action plans to meet financial, safety, and operational expectations. Additional responsibilities include implementing and promoting company policies and procedures, interacting with a bridges committee for policy and program improvements, participating in labor and employee relations activities, and providing insights for contract renewals. The General Manager will also be responsible for creating and presenting the location's annual budget.

Requirements

  • College degree or equivalent business management experience.
  • Management experience required.
  • Minimum of (5) five years of comprehensive experience in operations management.
  • Combination of (7) seven years of management or supervisory experience in a transit environment with knowledge of Trapeze scheduling software.
  • Labor/union(s) negations/expenses expertise.
  • Full understanding of dispatch, scheduling, driver recruitment, and safety DOT and FTA compliance.
  • Proficiency in MS Office.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • High degree of multi-tasking skills.

Responsibilities

  • Effectively manage customer relations through both direct contact and outreach programs.
  • Identify, select, train and mentor location staff.
  • Effectively and frequently communicate with location staff and support team members.
  • Oversee vehicle maintenance plan and ensures fleet availability to meet service requirements.
  • Oversee safety and training programs, plans and processes to ensure compliance with company, contract and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain client contact routinely to meet or exceed expectations.
  • Conduct periodic departmental audits.
  • Daily, weekly and monthly review of key operational metrics.
  • Ensure that all location financial metrics are managed continuously, exceptions are reported and action plans are developed to ensure the location meets it financial, safety and operational expectations.
  • Implement, promote and adhere to company policies and procedures.
  • Interact with bridges committee to effectuate positive changes to policies, procedures and programs.
  • Participate in location(s) labor and employee relations activities.
  • Provide insight and information to support location(s) contract renewals.
  • Create and present location(s) annual budget.
  • Additional duties/responsibilities based upon individual contract requirements.
