About The Position

The role of the General Manager is focused on effective team management while overseeing all aspects of the recycling operation, including inventory management, budget controls, quality assurance, and safety. This role requires strong leadership skills, operational expertise, and a keen eye for process efficiency and compliance to ensure consistent product/service excellence.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in Business, Logistics, or a related field
  • At least 5 years of experience in operations, logistics, recycling, or a related field preferred.
  • Proven leadership capabilities.
  • Must have a valid MI Driver’s License
  • Must be self-motivated with strong problem-solving ability
  • Ability to use computer applications such as MS Office and industry specific software
  • Ability to read, write and communicate in English sufficiently to perform the essential tasks of the position
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to adhere to and follow safety rules and regulations
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to make quick decisions in an ever-changing work environment
  • High level of personal motivation with a drive for ownership and accountability in performance of job responsibilities
  • Knowledge of applicable safety and environmental regulations and ability to implement the appropriate related programs and controls
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Good attention to detail, alertness, dependability
  • Reliable attendance

  • Current or Past CDLA preferred
  • Heavy machinery operation preferred

Responsibilities

  • Leads a diverse team through effective management, communication, coaching, training, and development.
  • Plans, organizes, and manages the team to ensure the work is accomplished in a manner consistent with company and customer requirements
  • Oversee inventory planning, control, and optimization to ensure alignment with production and sales demands in compliance with shipping specifications, load limits, and safety regulations.
  • Meets or exceeds scorecard metrics related to operational efficiency, safety, customer satisfaction, and team productivity.
  • Loads trucks and operates heavy equipment, when needed.
  • Performs daily inspections on both equipment & materials
  • Is dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers; gets first-hand customer information and uses it for improvements in products and services; talks and acts with customers in mind; establishes and maintains effective relationships with customers and gains their trust and respect
  • Coordinates with Maintenance to increase equipment uptime, reduce downtime and ensure proper preventative maintenance.
  • Completes first report for accidents, incidents, and worker’s compensation claims
  • Ensures that all employees follow all safety procedures and practices to prevent injuries or damage.
  • Speaking with local and county officials such as police, department of agriculture, fire department
  • All other duties as required
