About The Position

Country Club of Asheville is seeking a General Manager/Director of Club Operations to join our team. The position reports directly to the Vice President of Operations for McConnell Golf, LLC and works closely with the company’s corporate management and management support teams. This position is hands on, member facing, and responsible for the day-to-day operations while working cooperatively with the sports-related department managers to ensure consistent and excellent member services throughout the campus. The General Manager represents McConnell Golf, its culture and philosophies not only at the club but also in the city of Asheville. The Director is expected to be an accessible leader for all staff members. The Director will be held to high standards of professionalism and will lead his/her management team to be representative of modern management “best service and member experience” practices. The Director provides input with regard to the budget process and manages from these numbers in their respective areas of responsibility to attain desired financial results. This role hires, trains, motivates and develops staff members in related departments, and serves as the human resource liaison at the club. The Director is expected to have a presence across the club in this busy environment, jumping in to support smooth and efficient operations in a way that delivers an exceptional member experience. The successful candidate will be a highly visible, effective, hands-on leader with a positive attitude and a passion for being of service. Should have previous private club or hospitality leadership experience, ideally having served as either a general manager, a clubhouse manager or an assistant general manager at an upscale, full service private club or resort. This position requires a dynamic and energetic style; someone who genuinely enjoys member and staff engagement, and being part of an organizational team that is on the forefront in “Building Clubs of the Future.” Must be willing to chip in to deliver excellent service as needed and have a great eye for detail – from housekeeping standards to food and beverage service and personal touches. Candidates must demonstrate initiative, strong people and communications skill, organization, follow-up and follow-through, and have a proactive approach to problem solving.

Requirements

  • A highly visible, effective, hands-on leader with a positive attitude and a passion for being of service
  • Previous private club or hospitality leadership experience, ideally having served as either a general manager, a clubhouse manager or an assistant general manager at an upscale, full service private club or resort
