About The Position

The General Manager is responsible for overseeing the operational and management duties of the gym. This includes managing the gym's operational budget, overseeing the sales process, and evaluating the performance of gym-related managers. The General Manager will also monitor the hiring, training, and scheduling of all gym staff, while providing training and mentorship to subordinates. Additionally, the role involves delegating responsibilities to the sales team and managing disciplinary actions for gym employees. Operationally, the General Manager must ensure the highest level of customer service in a high-volume retail environment, make effective decisions regarding customer service issues, plan and promote special events, and ensure the facility is clean and operationally sound.

Requirements

  • High School diploma with five years professional experience; College degree preferred
  • Fitness industry experience preferred but not required
  • Ability to direct sales through outreach programs
  • Strong customer service orientation with proven results
  • Understanding of performance metrics including P&L, revenue, budgeting, inventory, payroll, cost controls, and facilities maintenance
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Entrepreneurial spirit with participative leadership style
  • Strong work ethic, integrity, and professional demeanor
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in business or related field with two years of management experience preferred
  • Current CPR Certification

Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain gym operational budget
  • Oversee the sales process and systems
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of all gym-related managers
  • Monitor hiring, training, and scheduling of all gym level staff
  • Train and mentor subordinates
  • Delegate and evaluate responsibilities of sales team through the Sales Manager
  • Manage disciplinary actions involving all gym level employees
  • Provide and maintain high level of customer service
  • Make effective decisions regarding customer service issues
  • Plan and promote special events for the gym
  • Ensure facility is clean and operationally sound
