DISH is seeking a Content Acquisition General Manager to join our Core Programming Team. This group leads negotiations and partnerships with core cable channels (e.g. NBCU, Fox News, FS1, TNT, TBS, Cartoon Network, Bloomberg, etc.) and plays a critical role in shaping DISH's content acquisition strategy across both DISH TV and Sling TV platforms. As a General Manager, you'll take on ownership of leading content deals from start to finish (e.g. deal preparation, contract analysis, negotiation, cross-functional coordination, etc.) with the support of direct reports and executive leadership. You'll work closely with legal, finance, marketing, and executive stakeholders, helping drive negotiations and business decisions that impact our millions of subscribers.

  • Lead DISH's preparation process for upcoming negotiations with content partners
  • Lead content acquisition discussions as well as renewal negotiations with our content partners and internal stakeholders
  • Evaluate and lead contractual analysis of our programming agreements with support from members of DISH's legal team
  • Create and manage analyses on network viewership and financials to support and inform discussions with content partners and executive decision-making
  • Present data-driven insights and strategic recommendations to internal leadership to inform negotiation positions and programming decisions
  • Proactive analysis of the latest trends in media and pay TV industries to drive internal content strategy and identify business opportunities
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Media, Communications, Finance, or related field; advanced degree (MBA, JD) is a significant plus, but not a requirement
  • 7-10 years of relevant experience preferred, ideally in content acquisition, business strategy, corporate development, procurement, finance, or media
  • Experience in, or strong interest in, the pay TV, broadcast, or streaming industries
  • Previous negotiating and deal experience
  • Desire to work in a high-performance environment and work on transactions of significant strategic importance
  • Managerial competency to manage and develop direct report(s) to achieve business objectives
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; capability to build and maintain strong internal and external business relationships
  • Clear communicator capable of working across teams and presenting to executive leadership
  • Comfortable reading and understanding contractual language and working alongside legal counsel
  • Comfortable negotiating with external counterparties; ability to draft term sheets and provide appropriate feedback to legal and business teams on agreements
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage and set multiple priorities under tight timelines
  • Advanced Data/Spreadsheet skills and financial fluency (modeling, forecasting, and sensitivity analysis)
  • Decisive & effective problem-solving ability; collaborative, resourceful, and curious-willing to dive into complex issues and propose thoughtful solutions
