About The Position

The General Manager - Marine is responsible for overseeing the efficient and profitable operations of the marine division, which includes managing a fleet of 5 tug and barge sets operating in Western Alaska. This role involves comprehensive management of operations, budget preparation, project management, and ensuring compliance with regulations. The position also includes leadership responsibilities for a team of 35 employees and a focus on customer service and sales.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree preferred
• Minimum of 5 years of experience managing a US tug and barge fleet
• Proven experience in a leadership role
• Highly prefer a ship captain with petroleum product transport experience
• Clean driving record, able to pass a background check, and complete a pre-employment drug screening

Responsibilities

• Manage the Marine Department overseeing tug/barge sets and support vessels
• Coach, mentor, motivate, and supervise various office staff as well as crew
• Ensure proper staffing for all vessels
• Influence Operations Team to take positive action and accountability for their assigned tasks
• Prepare and manage budgets for CAPEX and Operations
• Project management and shipyard management during repairs and dry docking
• Oversee lighterage and ship to ship transfers between company vessels and chartered ships or barges
• Supervise Marine Dispatcher and other marine support positions as required
• Develop strategies for growth that align with company vision
• P&L responsibility for business units
• Customer service and sales focus
• Ensure compliance with various regulations and training for business units
• After hours accessibility
• Other duties as assigned
