About The Position

The General Manager in Training position is designed to assist the General Manager in overseeing the daily operations of the store. This role involves engaging in various store functions such as dispensing eyewear, providing patient care, setting performance goals, and ensuring financial performance. The position also includes responsibilities for hiring, training, coaching, and managing the store team, as well as leading the team in the absence of the General Manager.

Requirements

  • ABO/Shopko OCE Certification required.
  • High School Graduate or equivalent.
  • Optician experience desired.
  • Supervisory experience with a strong customer service focus, preferably in an optical store or retail setting.
  • Ability to analyze and solve issues of varied scope and implement solutions.
  • Solid organizational and planning skills.
  • Ability to monitor progress in relation to goal attainment.
  • Ability to analyze financial data and recognize opportunities for improvement.
  • Ability to set impactful goals and motivate the team to deliver results.
  • Ability to multi-task and remain flexible in an ever-changing environment.
  • Demonstrate commitment to providing great customer service.
  • Solid computer knowledge, including Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the General Manager in day-to-day operations of the store.
  • Perform store functions including dispensing eyewear and patient care.
  • Set performance goals and deliver financial performance.
  • Assist with hiring, training, coaching, and performance management of the store team.
  • Lead the team in the General Manager's absence.
  • Execute merchandise, operational, and customer service strategies to achieve sales and financial results.
  • Model service and selling techniques to maximize customer satisfaction.
  • Drive optical initiatives through planning and scheduling.
  • Identify opportunities to grow the business and develop business plans.
  • Ensure compliance with HR policies and federal/state laws.
  • Communicate effectively with the team regarding company initiatives and processes.
  • Provide excellent customer service and model customer interactions.
  • Dispense eyewear according to professional standards.
