About The Position

This General Manager role pertains to a new location in Baltimore, MD, created specifically to service one of our dedicated customers. Provide strategic direction and operational support to meet the established goals for a medium sized warehouse which carries a broad scope of responsibilities and complexity. Operate facility while following all regulatory and company safety standards, policies, and procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of Operations Management experience within Supply Chain or a related field.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute strategic and annual operating plans (budgeting, performance targets, SOPs, workshops, etc.).
  • Experience managing cost structures and driving operational efficiencies.
  • Background in continuous improvement methodologies such as Six Sigma and/or LEAN.
  • Demonstrated experience managing, training, and developing operational teams.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to lead discussions, deliver presentations, and translate technical information for non-technical audiences.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, including comfort working in ambiguous environments.
  • Ability to travel up to 25%.
  • Ability to work in extreme temperatures-from -20°F/-25°C in cold storage to 100°F/37°C in dry storage-while wearing company-provided PPE.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 40 lbs./18 kg (or more depending on facility needs).
  • Comfortable working in varying noise levels, including loud environments.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, recruit, train, develop, and provide performance feedback to direct reports to ensure productivity, efficiency, and overall operational effectiveness.
  • Achieve company performance goals by meeting internal and external KPIs, including Labor to Revenue (LTR), truck turn times, and customer service benchmarks.
  • Review and analyze warehouse activities and operational costs to drive continuous process improvement.
  • Partner with the Sales Manager on marketing and sales initiatives, including planning new account strategies, prospecting, conducting sales calls, developing and quoting rates, negotiating contracts, and closing new business.
  • Maintain strong customer service standards and foster productive client relationships across all facilities.
  • Monitor and manage budgets, capital expenditures, material handling equipment, and space utilization to support corporate objectives.
  • Lead and support initiatives that ensure proper receipt, storage, handling, and distribution of food products, exceeding safety, food quality, and employee health and safety standards.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support operational and business needs.
