About The Position

The General Manager (GM) at Legal Sea Foods is responsible for overseeing the effective operations of the restaurant, ensuring excellent product and service delivery to guests. This role involves staffing, recruitment, employee development, financial management, and extensive guest interaction, all while optimizing profits and increasing sales in collaboration with the Chef.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of three years relevant experience in restaurant management or five years of on-the-job experience.
  • Strong verbal communication and listening skills.
  • Excellent guest service skills and ability to understand guest needs.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills.
  • Financial understanding and market awareness.

Nice To Haves

  • Hospitality degree preferred.
  • Experience with information systems related to restaurant management.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and direct the work of FOH managers and designated associate departments, including hiring, scheduling, and training.
  • Ensure guest service is provided in accordance with company policy.
  • Maintain safety, security, and cleanliness of FOH areas and equipment.
  • Develop and present an annual business and budget plan in cooperation with the Chef.
  • Ensure monthly compliance to budget regarding labor, food, and other costs.
  • Exercise discretion and independent judgment in managing the FOH Department.
  • Address guest complaints and ensure overall guest satisfaction.
  • Utilize company business systems effectively, including POS and HRIS.
  • Oversee proper restaurant maintenance and interact with external vendors for quality pricing and products.
  • Conduct cost analysis and negotiate vendor contracts.
