About The Position

The General Manager - Bench position at Shopko Optical involves leading optical teams in the Green Bay and Fox Valley areas to achieve sales, profit, and customer service objectives. This role requires effective supervision of optical operations, including dispensing eyewear and patient care, while collaborating with Optometrists to enhance business results and patient satisfaction. The position emphasizes building relationships within the community and providing exceptional customer service.

Requirements

  • ABO/Shopko OCE Certification required within 12 months of hire/promotion.
  • High School Graduate or equivalent.
  • 3 years of leadership experience or equivalent management experience with a strong customer service focus, preferably in an optical or retail setting.
  • Optician experience desired.
  • Proven ability to lead, coach, and build relationships in a professional environment.
  • Ability to analyze and solve issues of varied scope and implement solutions decisively.
  • Solid organizational and planning skills with the ability to monitor progress towards goals.
  • Ability to analyze financial data and recognize opportunities for improvement.
  • Strong computer knowledge, including Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the optical team to execute merchandise, operational, and customer service strategies to achieve planned sales and financial results.
  • Model service, patient care, and selling techniques to maximize customer satisfaction.
  • Act with urgency to complete tasks and respond to patients and customers.
  • Drive optical initiatives through effective planning and scheduling.
  • Identify opportunities to grow the business and develop actionable business plans.
  • Hire, develop, and train teammates while managing their performance.
  • Ensure compliance with company HR policies and federal/state regulations.
  • Communicate effectively with the team regarding company initiatives and key information.
  • Provide excellent customer service and dispense eyewear according to professional standards.
