About The Position

JERA Americas is seeking a strategic and experienced General Manager, Application Engineering to lead the strategy, development, and delivery of all enterprise applications across JERA Americas. This role is pivotal in driving business-aligned technology initiatives and ensuring robust, scalable, and innovative application solutions that support critical business functions—including energy trading, SAP, enterprise platforms, and system integrations. This leader will work closely with other IT functions such as operations, architecture, and strategy/PMO to ensure cohesive execution of technology initiatives and alignment with enterprise goals. The role requires a strong ability to collaborate across teams, influence outcomes, and deliver high-impact solutions. As part of JERA Group, headquartered in Tokyo, JERA Americas plays a key role in advancing the global energy transition. The General Manager will also engage with colleagues in Tokyo to ensure alignment with global platforms, standards, and strategic initiatives. This includes contributing to JERA’s mission of providing cutting-edge energy solutions and building a clean energy supply platform that combines renewables and low greenhouse gas thermal power. The ideal candidate will bring deep experience in energy trading risk management (ETRM) systems, software engineering, and stakeholder engagement, with a strong understanding of the energy value chain. This role is essential to driving business value through technology and supporting JERA Americas’ mission to lead the energy transition through innovation, reliability, and sustainability.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in IT application development and management.
• 5+ years in a leadership role overseeing enterprise applications.
• Proven experience with ETRM systems and SAP platforms.
• Strong understanding of enterprise-wide application architecture and business processes.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with cloud-based application development and integration.
• Experience with API architecture and middleware platforms.
• Familiarity with the energy industry and value chain.

Responsibilities

• Lead the strategy and execution of all IT application platforms across JERA Americas.
• Oversee application engineering for systems supporting Energy Trading & Risk Management (ETRM): Ensure platforms meet trading, compliance, and risk requirements.
• Manage application delivery and integration across SAP modules.
• Guide development and support of business-critical systems.
• Drive middleware and API strategies for seamless data flow across platforms.
• Collaborate with IT operations, enterprise architecture, and PMO to ensure cohesive execution of technology initiatives.
• Partner with business stakeholders to translate needs into scalable and secure application solutions.
• Coordinate with global teams, including JERA Tokyo, to align on standards, platforms, and shared initiatives.
• Promote agile development practices and continuous improvement across application teams.
• Ensure application reliability, performance, and compliance with internal and external standards.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend solutions that enhance business capabilities.
• Maintain documentation, roadmaps, and architectural alignment for all application platforms.
