About The Position

Sodexo is seeking an accomplished and strategic General Manager 5 – Food Services to lead the entire food and nutrition operation at a major healthcare account in the New York Metro Region . This is a senior leadership position reporting directly to the Vice President of Operations. You will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of food service management, including patient dining, retail operations, financial performance, client relations, and managing a large, complex workforce. Requirements

  • Executive Presence and Strategic Vision: Ability to operate at a senior level, making strategic decisions that impact both operational execution and long-term client success.
  • Complex Healthcare Experience: Deep understanding of managing high-volume food service within a complex hospital or major healthcare system environment.
  • Union Expertise: Proven, successful track record of managing large, unionized teams, interpreting collective bargaining agreements, and navigating labor relations.
  • P&L Mastery: Demonstrated ability to manage multi-million-dollar budgets and drive operational efficiencies that positively impact financial performance.
  • Minimum Education Requirement - Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum Management Experience – 5 years
  • Minimum Functional Experience – 5 years

Responsibilities

  • Operational Leadership: Direct and oversee all food service programs, including Patient Dining, catering, and multiple high-volume Retail Dining outlets, ensuring the highest standards of safety, quality, and service.
  • Labor Management & Relations: Provide strong leadership and direction to a large, diverse unionized staff (approx. 150 employees). Manage labor relations, adherence to collective bargaining agreements, scheduling, and performance management to optimize efficiency and maintain positive employee relations.
  • Financial Performance: Assume full P&L responsibility for the account. Develop and execute strategic financial plans, including budgeting, cost controls, purchasing, and inventory management to achieve revenue and profitability targets.
  • Client Relationship Management: Serve as the primary point of contact for key client stakeholders. Foster a collaborative partnership focused on continuous improvement, innovation, and achieving world-class patient and customer satisfaction scores.
  • Talent Development: Mentor, develop, and coach a management team and frontline staff, building a culture of service excellence, compliance, and professional growth.
