Job Summary The General Maintenance Technician performs semi-skilled maintenance, repair, and inspection services across hospital systems and equipment. This role focuses on versatility—handling a variety of maintenance tasks rather than specializing in one trade—while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and supporting uninterrupted patient care operations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to read and write English
  • Ability to read blueprints and schematics
  • Basic mechanical and electrical knowledge

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to test for Boiler License within one year
  • Progress toward Journeyman Electrician, EPA/Freon, or Hospital Plumber license
  • Previous healthcare or facilities maintenance experience

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on facility systems, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and building components.
  • Maintain patient care wall suction units, including cleaning, lubrication, calibration, testing, and component replacement within scope.
  • Conduct safety testing on designated non-patient equipment to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Repair and maintain nurse call systems, bed controls, and hospital equipment.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical devices, HVAC systems, and machinery using hand and power tools.
  • Maintain accurate equipment maintenance records.
  • Assist with snow and ice removal and respond during severe weather events.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Engineering leadership.
