About The Position

This position will be an on-call position to assist the maintenance department as needed with the housekeeping and maintenance of the buildings and grounds at Fond du Lac Tribal & Community College which may include cleaning of building; maintaining walkways and grounds; performing minor repairs to fixtures and equipment; correcting and/or reporting to supervisor any security, fire, safety or health hazards; receiving freight; setting up furniture and equipment for special events. This position is part of the overall team which ensures that the building and grounds are well maintained and kept in good repair for the safety of the students, faculty, staff and general public. This posting will fill 3 positions.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of various types of flooring/floor coverings sufficient to determine proper methods of maintenance and appropriate cleaning methods, materials, agents, and equipment.
  • Knowledge of chemical cleaning agents such as ammonia, bleaches, scouring agents, and soaps sufficient to appropriately select the agent(s), handle and apply, and dispose of safely.
  • Knowledge of the methods, tools, and equipment used in maintenance sufficient to use effectively and operate safely, and to make minor repairs.
  • Knowledge of groundskeeping.
  • Must maintain a valid current driver's license.
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to perform assigned work with limited direction.
  • Ability to keep simple records.
  • Ability to work effectively/cooperatively with coworkers, campus employees, and the public.
  • Must be able to work in adverse/extreme weather conditions.
  • Must be able to work above ground level, such as on ladders and scaffolding.
  • Must have good physical health and endurance to be able to repeatedly bend, stoop, reach above shoulder level, crouch, push and pull, twist, and squat.
  • Must be able to push, pull, lift, and carry heavy objects such as furniture, boxes of books, etc.
  • Must be able to work on feet for eight hours per day.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds independently.

  • Ability to perform routine maintenance/repair to classrooms, offices, and other furniture and equipment.
  • Ability to work independently under limited supervision or in a team environment.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Experience working with culturally diverse populations.
