General Maintenance Worker - 1099
About The Position
The Sanford Airport Authority is looking for an experienced Building Maintenance Worker to provide any range of services to maintain Airport buildings and facilities including welding, painting, equipment, and fixture repairs or replacement, to maintain the buildings and related areas of airport properties. SCOPE: Perform duties to provide any range of services to maintain Airport buildings and facilities including welding, painting, equipment, and fixture repairs or replacement, to maintain the buildings and related areas of the airport properties, within the limitations of standard methods and procedures.
Requirements
- Has more than general maintenance skills including a specific skillset. For example, plumbing or carpentry
- Has the ability to clearly communicate with air traffic control
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Ability to pass Federal Fingerprint Background Check - the Federal Fingerprint Background Check is not limited to 7 years but checks your entire lifetime. Felonies will not be cleared.
- Ability to pass a 10 Panel Drug Test - The Full Panel Drug Test DOES include testing for THC. SAA is a drug free workplace.
- Favorable Moving Violation Report (MVR) - The Moving Violation Report Check is checking for a DL suspension, several moving violations, DUIs, etc. to your current employer until you are confirmed clear.
Responsibilities
- Work from work orders, drawings, schematics, blue prints, and manuals to identify the need for building or property repairs or upkeep
- Patch roofs by replacing metal or asphalt materials.
- Provide plumbing repairs in kitchens and bathrooms, including under slab.
- Replace toilets, sinks, or other plumbed fixtures, or unclog drains.
- Replace tile and paint as ordered.
- Utilize ride-on or push markers to maintain the airfield runway/taxiway marking.
- Patch runways, roadways, and walkways.
- Remove and replace concrete as needed.
- Mark roads, parking lot, and other areas as designated.
- Assist with HVAC repairs, duct replacement, and water heater replacement.
- Provide interior and exterior building painting.
- Replace windows and doors.
- Remove and reinsulate walls, and construct and finish interior walls and doors.
- Assist the Grounds Maintenance team where necessary.
- Refurbish rental properties post-tenant and prepare for next tenant involving changes to meet required specifications including space restructuring, replacing flooring, fixtures, and appliances as required.
- Perform or assist with any operations, as required to maintain workflow and to meet schedules and quality requirements.
- Notify supervision of unusual equipment or operating problems and the need for additional material and supplies.
- Maintain a safe work area and comply with safety procedures and equipment operating rules keeping the work area in a clean and orderly condition.
- Participate in any variety of meetings and workgroups to integrate activities, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems and maintain a specified level of knowledge pertaining to new developments, requirements, and policies.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
