About the position

The General Maintenance Worker is responsible for maintaining the physical school plant in a condition of operating excellence to ensure full educational use at all times. This position involves various tasks including operating and maintaining trucks and equipment, installing and repairing fences, drainage systems, playground equipment, and performing minor concrete and asphalt jobs. The worker will also be responsible for hauling district equipment and supplies, painting parking lots, and keeping accurate inventory of parts and tools.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain trucks and equipment as required (minor greasing and oiling of equipment).
  • Install and/or repair fence, drainage, playground equipment, backstops, goal posts, etc.
  • Hauling of district equipment and supplies.
  • Painting of district parking lots.
  • Minor concrete and asphalt jobs.
  • Load and unload vehicles.
  • Procure supplies and equipment as needed.
  • Keep accurate inventory of parts, supplies, and tools.
  • Clean blacktop, walkways, stairs, roofs, etc.
  • Comply with all relevant local, state, and national building and safety codes.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
  • Valid Commercial Drivers License (CDL) and a driving record that is acceptable to the school's insurance carrier.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups, staff, parents, and the general public.
  • Ability to plan budgets and maintain accurate records.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, and the community.
