About The Position

Under direction of the Facility Supervisor, the General Maintenance Worker will provide the daily maintenance operations and activities for all assigned facilities. The incumbent receives and evaluates work orders and requests, investigates requests or problems where appropriate, completes the necessary repairs and maintenance of all plumbing systems.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent GED.
  • Five (5) years of experience in the plumbing and facilities maintenance trade.
  • Possess and maintain or obtain within 6 months and maintain the Hepatitis B vaccination.
  • Ability to pass pre-hire background and drug screen.
  • U.S. Citizenship.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain the required intelligence community level clearance.
  • Valid state driver’s license.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and team lift 75 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains various mechanical supply and drains lines; to include but not limited to clearing clogged lines, repair or replacement of plumbing fixtures, conduct preventative maintenance on pumps fixtures, water filters, water heaters, drains and other plumbing appliances.
  • Assists plumbers with both high and low pressure steam appliances.
  • Performs basic electrical wiring for water heaters, pumps and various control devices.
  • Plans and layout work from blueprints, drawings, models, and verbal and written instructions.
  • Uses a variety of hand tools, portable power tools, and standard measuring instruments.
  • Plans, organizes work, and meets all deadlines.
  • Performs a variety of tasks in any single day.
  • Coordinates with other trade’s personnel and the warehouse personnel in the identification of proper and correct materials, parts assemblies, and requirements for a variety of requisitions necessary for the job/task.
  • Responds to emergency site maintenance as required.
  • Inspects and diagnoses problems to determine corrective repairs.
  • Performs on call and preventive maintenance duties as necessary.
  • Helps perform periodic stock inventories and prepare material requisitions for replacement items as required.
  • Operates customer and company owned motor vehicles and/or other equipment.
  • Performs various lower classified duties such as (but not limited to) file maintenance, workspace cleanup, maintain warehouse space and telephone answering as required.
  • Supports other department staff as needed or directed.
  • Assists other trade groups in daily operations where required.
  • Adheres to the established company safety and personnel policies and standard operating procedures.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
