As a General Maintenance Technician, you will repair and maintain machinery and mechanical equipment—such as motors, pneumatic tools, and production machines—following diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, and manufacturer specifications. You will use hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring and testing instruments to perform your work. Additionally, you will observe mechanical devices in operation and listen to their performance to identify and diagnose potential issues.

Requirements

  • Mechanical Background with Electrical Systems Familiarity
  • Mechanically orientated and capable of working around fuels and chemicals. Needs to be organized and to practice safe work habits.
  • Be able to follow instructions from tech orders and be able to understand drawings and prints
  • Must be authorized to work in the US.

Nice To Haves

  • Thorough knowledge of national and local mechanical, electrical and/or plumbing codes.
  • Good analytical skills.
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, bend, push, pull, crouch, crawl and/or climb for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 70 pounds (unassisted) for approximately 25% of the average work day.
  • Attainment of trade certification.
  • Licensed plumbing contractor with gas fitter’s license, will be beneficial.
  • Licensed backflow prevention tester, will be beneficial.
  • Steam & pipefitter, refrigeration or industrial mechanic license would be an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts, using hoists, cranes, hand tools and power tools
  • Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments, using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges.
  • Repairs or replaces defective parts using hand tools or power tools.
  • Lubricates and cleans parts.
  • Operate lathe, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts.
  • Initiate purchase order for parts and machines.
  • Repair electrical equipment.
  • Perform routine maintenance on all test benches, lathes, presses, CNC’s, and all other machines in facility.
  • Be ready to repair emergency failures that affect facility.
  • Installs stationary industrial machinery and mechanical equipment according to layout plans using hand and power tools.
  • Troubleshoots, inspects and examines machinery and equipment to detect and investigate irregularities and malfunctions.
  • Adjusts machinery and repairs or replaces defective parts.
  • Cleans, lubricates and performs other routine maintenance work on machinery.
  • Constructs foundations for machinery.
  • Makes recommendations to management and engineering for improvement of preventative maintenance practices.
  • Recommends replacement of equipment as required and assesses the condition of used equipment prior to purchase.
  • Estimates labor and material requirements. Orders and maintains equipment and supplies.
  • Tests continuity of circuits using test equipment to ensure compatibility and safety of system, following installation, replacement or repair.
  • Troubleshoots and isolates faults in electrical and electronic systems and removes and replaces faulty components.
  • Inspects existing electrical systems and components on a preventative and as-needed basis to ensure conformance with applicable codes.
  • Works with the primary distribution systems for both repair and maintenance, and in support of power company outages.
  • Experience working with high voltage
  • Designs, installs and maintains electrical power and control installations.
  • Reads and interprets drawings and electrical code specifications to determine wiring layouts for new and existing installations.
  • Pulls wire through conduits and through holes in walls and floors.
  • Installs, repairs and maintains plumbing and gas fixtures, equipment and systems.
  • Reads blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine layout of plumbing and gas systems, water supply network and waste drainage systems.
  • Locates and marks positions for pipe connections, passage holes and fixtures in walls and floors.
  • Cuts opening in walls and floors to accommodate pipe and pipe fittings.
  • Measures, cuts, bends and threads pipes using hand and power tools or machines.
  • Joins pipes using couplings, clamps, screws, bolts, cement or soldering, brazing and welding equipment.
  • Tests pipes for leaks using air and water pressure gauges and gas detecting devices.
  • Inspects, troubleshoots and repairs existing plumbing systems and fixtures on a preventative and as-needed basis to ensure conformance with applicable codes.
