About The Position

We are seeking a skilled General Maintenance Technician to maintain and repair building systems and equipment in our commercial facility. The ideal candidate will perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure optimal functionality of all facility operations while maintaining a safe, clean, and professional environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Two or more years of experience in building maintenance, facilities management, or related field preferred.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in carpentry and drywall installation, repair, and finishing techniques.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively including saws, drills, sanders, and measuring equipment.
  • Basic knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to read technical manuals, blueprints, building plans, and maintenance schedules.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in various physical conditions including heights, confined spaces, and outdoor environments.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent communication skills and professional demeanor when interacting with tenants and vendors.

Nice To Haves

  • Basic electrical or plumbing certifications.
  • Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
  • Formal training or apprenticeship in carpentry or construction trades.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine preventive maintenance on HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical systems, and building equipment according to established schedules.
  • Conduct daily inspections of facility systems and equipment to identify potential issues before they become costly problems.
  • Execute carpentry and drywall repairs including patching holes, installing new drywall sections, taping and mudding joints, and sanding surfaces to prepare for painting.
  • Build and install shelving, cabinets, and other wooden fixtures as needed.
  • Perform door and window repairs, including adjusting hinges, replacing hardware, and weatherstripping.
  • Complete finish carpentry work such as installing trim, baseboards, and molding.
  • Frame walls for office reconfigurations and tenant improvements.
  • Repair and replace damaged flooring materials including tiles, carpet, and hardwood.
  • Maintain building exterior and interior spaces including painting, wall repairs, replacing ceiling tiles, and general facility upkeep.
  • Ensure all common areas, restrooms, and tenant spaces meet cleanliness and functionality standards.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests from tenants and building management.
  • Document all work performed and maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment inspections, and repair costs.
  • Assist with vendor coordination and oversight when specialized contractors are required.
  • Monitor contractor work to ensure quality standards and building policies are followed.
