Position Summary The General Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing routine maintenance, repairs, and upkeep of facility buildings, equipment, and grounds to ensure a safe, efficient, and well-maintained manufacturing environment. This role supports day-to-day operations by addressing maintenance requests, conducting preventative maintenance, and assisting with facility improvements.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required
- 2+ years of general maintenance experience in an industrial, manufacturing, or commercial environment preferred
- Working knowledge of basic electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and carpentry systems
- Ability to read work orders, safety instructions, and basic technical documentation
- Strong understanding of safety practices in an industrial setting
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Must be able to stand for prolonged periods (8+ hours)
- Must be able to lift, push, pull, or carry up to 50 lbs. independently
- Frequent bending, stooping, reaching, and manual handling of materials required
- Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
- Ability to tolerate noise, heat, and dust in a manufacturing environment
- Visual acuity to read measuring tools, drawings, and detect quality defects
- Must pass initial and ongoing physical or occupational health screenings (e.g., lifting assessment, vision test, hearing test, etc.)
- Must be able to wear required PPE, including steel-toe boots, gloves, safety glasses, and hearing protection
Responsibilities
- Perform general building maintenance including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and basic HVAC work
- Conduct routine inspections of facilities and equipment to identify maintenance needs andsafety concerns
- Respond to maintenance work orders in a timely and professional manner
- Perform preventative maintenance on machinery, tools, and facility systems
- Repair or replace fixtures, doors, lighting, flooring, and other facility components
- Maintain shop equipment, tools, and maintenance supplies in good working order
- Assist with facility modifications, equipment moves, and layout changes
- Support compliance with safety standards, OSHA regulations, and company policies
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas
- Coordinate with outside contractors and vendors as needed
- Document completed work, inspections, and repairs
