General Summary The General Maintenance Technician performs general medium skill level preventive and corrective maintenance and repairs of equipment, systems and facilities.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Two years technical or vocational training desirable.
  • Two years of employed general maintenance experience required.
  • Five years of employed general maintenance experience in lieu of technical or vocational training education.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, perform math skills and calculations related to position, Standing, walking, sitting, lifting up to 35 lbs. without lifting aids.
  • Mental ability to perform under stress, operate power tools, testing equipment and machinery.
  • Required to be fit-tested, pass the test, and be able to wear N-95 mask at any and all times as needed unless you have a medical excuse.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates appropriate skills and abilities based on scope of position, level of training, and expertise and/or licensure, to assess, assist, and provide general maintenance and repair throughout the facility keeping proper documentation.
  • Prioritizes routine and on-going preventive and corrective maintenance projects to meet the needs of the facility, as directed, and to meet regulatory compliance.
  • Monitors and documents progress of preventive and corrective maintenance on equipment and assigned projects to include; history, costs, compliance, safety issues.
  • Maintains open communication with staff and managers who request services from Plant Operations, providing updates, progress, statuses and follow-up on work being done.
  • Communicates with Plant Operations Director, and Plant Operations Foreman information on preventive and corrective maintenance of equipment, projects, problems with equipment, facility needs, code or compliance issues Communicates problems and down time.
  • Communicates and coordinates with the users, repair and financial costs relating to routine preventive and corrective maintenance, and projects to the appropriate managers.
  • Understands and adheres to all safety standards and safety precautions at all times.
  • Sets up safety zones around areas where work is being performed to reduce risk of injury to others.
  • Uses Personal Protective Equipment when needed or as directed.
  • Responds to routine and emergency calls for maintenance throughout the hospital when alone on a shift or as directed.
