About The Position

The position involves performing routine and extensive preventative maintenance and repair procedures on YMCA buildings, mechanical equipment, and other property. The role requires a hands-on approach to ensure the upkeep and functionality of facilities.

Requirements

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
• Minimum of 2-3 years of responsible experience in building and mechanical equipment maintenance and repair; or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Good skill in the use of hand and power tools.
• Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems, carpentry, and other maintenance related areas.
• Adhere to drug/alcohol/smoke free workplace policy.
• Able to prioritize and meet deadlines.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Ability to write simple correspondence.
• Successfully complete State of Florida Criminal History Background Check requirements as well as meet the Association’s policies on background screening.

Responsibilities

• Performs minor and major repair of all buildings and equipment.
• Replaces broken windows; repairs doors, door locks; installs window blinds.
• Installs flooring of all types.
• Installs and repairs plumbing fixtures including but not limited to toilets, sinks, and urinals.
• Installs electrical wiring and equipment; replaces and repairs lighting fixtures and ballast.
• Responds to emergency maintenance requests as required.
• Assists with the renovation/remodeling of buildings; repairs plaster and drywall; interior and exterior painting.
• Responsible for upholding all staff safety requirements including cleaning protocols throughout the day, as required.
• Other duties as assigned.
