General Maintenance Technician Lead - JLL What this job involves: We are seeking an experienced Lead General Maintenance Technician to oversee daily maintenance operations and lead a team of maintenance technicians. This role combines hands-on technical work with supervisory responsibilities, ensuring optimal building performance and tenant satisfaction while developing team capabilities.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 5+ years of building maintenance experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead role.
  • Commercial HVAC knowledge and basic electrical and plumbing skills.
  • Strong leadership and communication abilities are essential, as is the ability to read blueprints and technical manuals.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation are required, along with the physical ability to lift 50+ pounds and work in various environmental conditions.
  • Proficiency with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and basic computer skills are necessary.
  • Able to participate in-call rotation & work occasional evenings and weekends for emergency responses.
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • EPA universal certification
  • Relevant trade certifications or technical school training, commercial building maintenance experience, and familiarity with building automation systems.
  • Experience with energy management and sustainability practices.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and mentor a team of maintenance technicians, assigning work orders and ensuring quality standards are met consistently.
  • Perform and oversee preventive maintenance programs for HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and building systems while responding to emergency maintenance requests and coordinating with external contractors and vendors.
  • Maintain detailed maintenance records and work order documentation, conducting regular building inspections to identify potential issues, and ensuring all work complies with safety regulations and building codes.
  • Participate in budget planning for maintenance supplies and equipment while implementing energy efficiency initiatives and cost-saving measures.
