About The Position

Amentum is seeking a General Maintenance Technician for our industrial operations & maintenance teams in Moline, IL. Typical hours: Monday - Friday 6:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. may vary based on customer demand. This is a temporary position that will be required for 6 months starting in February and ending in August. Compensation: $22.00 - $28.00 per hour The General Maintenance Technician works with our operations and maintenance team in the performance of general maintenance duties; paint and patch work, disassembly and assembly of furniture, transporting equipment between facilities, handling equipment operation, building inspections and general cleanup of work sites.

Requirements

  • 3 years’ maintenance experience in one of the following trades or demonstrated equivalent combination of education and experience: General Construction, Painting, General Maintenance.
  • Ability to pass a medical evaluation for respirator use and be able to successfully complete a fit test for several types of respirators.
  • Must be capable of obtaining an Illinois non-commercial class C license or resident state equivalent and DOT medical card.
  • Ability to obtain a security access badge at our client’s location.
  • Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test.
  • This position does not include sponsorship for United States work authorization.
  • This position will require the ability to obtain a security access badge at our client’s location.
  • Experience working with and understanding Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Work Instructions.
  • This position may require various shifts, weekends, and alternative work schedules.
  • Regularly lift to 50 lbs.
  • Regularly climb ladders, steps, and scaffolding
  • Repetitive motions: bend, stoop, squat, kneel, stretch, reach, wrist movement
  • Walk extensively throughout the facilities during shift
  • Work at an accelerated pace in emergency conditions
  • Ability to differentiate colors pertaining to wire color-coding
  • Wear steel toe safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, hard hats, and other Personal Protective Equipment as needed.
  • Cope with demands (stressors) that are associated with the job and/or the work environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS); Corrigo experience is a plus.
  • Experience interpreting a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Works from prints, sketches, work orders and/or verbal instructions as required.
  • Blends and matches of various types and colors of paint for touch-up and refinishing of metal partitions, doors, furniture and equipment.
  • Performs glazing work, cutting and fitting glass and framing as required.
  • Performs finish carpentry work.
  • Repairs all types of floors including floor coverings.
  • Installs and relocates movable metal partitions.
  • Repairs, alters, and performs finish work on wood and metal furniture and equipment.
  • Performs masonry work and repairs plaster.
  • Performs welding, heating, and brazing as required.
  • Repairs various types of roofs.
  • Installs and repairs locks on furniture, doors, and file cabinets.
  • Loads, unloads, stores, issues and/or delivers material, tools, supplies, and equipment for use in the facility.
  • Performs moves of personnel as required.
  • Cleans work area and performs other miscellaneous duties inherent to the job.
  • Maintain a compliant 5S work environment.
  • Salvage mechanical or electrical equipment in a safe manner.
  • Perform general maintenance and assist with mechanical work at times when building maintenance work is not available.
  • May also perform other duties as directed by a supervisor.
