General Maintenance Technician – JLL What this job involves: The General Maintenance Technician plays a critical role in supporting facility operations within a GMP-regulated R&D pharmaceutical environment. This position ensures that cleanrooms, laboratories, office areas, and critical mechanical systems are maintained to the highest standards of safety, compliance, and operational reliability. You will perform a diverse range of maintenance, repair, and light construction tasks while adhering to stringent regulatory requirements and Good Documentation Practices. This role directly contributes to JLL's commitment to delivering exceptional facility management services that enable our clients' pharmaceutical research and development success.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of facility maintenance experience with demonstrated competency across multiple building trades.
  • Proficiency in mechanical maintenance tasks including oil changes, greasing, belt replacement, and pump servicing.
  • Strong working knowledge of general building trades including painting, carpentry, basic flooring installation and repair, and masonry work.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, equipment manuals, technical schematics, and maintenance schedules.
  • Physical capability to climb ladders, lift up to 50 lbs., work in elevated or confined spaces, and perform tasks requiring kneeling and extended physical effort.
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • 1–2 years of experience working in a regulated environment such as GMP, healthcare, or cleanroom facilities.
  • Vocational or technical training in building maintenance, HVAC systems, or mechanical systems.
  • Hands-on experience with basic HVAC, electrical, and plumbing tasks in commercial or industrial settings.
  • Familiarity with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), specifically Corrigo or similar platforms.
  • Understanding of Good Documentation Practices (GDP) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in pharmaceutical or laboratory environments.
  • Experience coordinating maintenance work in validated cleanroom environments without disrupting critical operations.
  • Strong attention to detail, proactive safety awareness, and excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly facility inspections and execute corrective and preventive maintenance tasks to ensure optimal building performance.
  • Perform general building repairs including drywall patching, door and hardware repairs, ceiling tile replacements, fixture installations, and other structural maintenance.
  • Execute mechanical equipment maintenance such as oil changes, belt replacements, lubrication of HVAC systems, and servicing of pumps, motors, fans, AHUs, and RTUs per established schedules.
  • Complete carpentry, painting, flooring, and minor masonry work including framing, cabinetry repair, interior painting, flooring replacement (VCT, carpet tiles), and concrete patching.
  • Work within GMP-controlled environments following strict gowning, cleaning, and contamination control protocols while maintaining proper documentation per GDP and SOPs.
  • Respond promptly to internal work order requests using CMMS (Corrigo) software, accurately documenting maintenance activities, parts usage, and inspection results to support compliance audits and facility readiness.
  • Monitor rotating equipment performance, assist with troubleshooting vibration or alignment issues, and replace seals, gaskets, and filters as part of preventive maintenance programs.
