About The Position

The position involves performing preventative and corrective maintenance work within assigned areas of responsibility in a hospital environment. The individual will provide preventive and general maintenance services on hospital movable and fixed capital equipment to repair and prevent premature wear and malfunctioning. The work schedule includes evening shifts on Thursday and Friday from 2:30 PM to 10:30/11 PM, and Saturday and Sunday from 6 PM to 6 AM.

Requirements

  • Minimum education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Preferred education: Associate’s Degree in a mechanical or related field.
  • Minimum experience: One year work experience in a mechanical related field.
  • Preferred experience: Three or more years work experience in a mechanical related field, with hospital experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of and ability to use basic hand tools and test equipment specific to the field.
  • Ability to follow written instructions and document actions taken.
  • Successful completion of two-year level Health Care Mechanics Certification preferred.
  • Computer competency including basic understanding of email, e-learning, intranet, and computer navigation.
  • Physical ability to balance, bend, climb, crawl, crouch, kneel, reach, sit, squat, stand, twist, and walk.
  • Ability to work while being exposed to infectious disease, dust, and inclement weather.

Nice To Haves

  • Health Care Mechanic Certification.
  • Three or more years of hospital experience.

Responsibilities

  • Independently perform preventative and corrective maintenance work.
  • Provide preventive and general maintenance services on hospital movable and fixed capital equipment.
  • Maintain or repair hospital-wide systems including pneumatic tube system, nurse call system, fire alarm system, HUGS system, lighting, plumbing, HVAC, and medical gas systems.
  • Perform corrective and routine preventive maintenance on hospital equipment including ice machines, blanket warmers, doors, blinds, televisions, etc.
  • Maintain hospital lighting systems including replacement of lamps, bulbs, ballasts, switches, and outlets.
  • Perform welding repairs and general machining.
  • Assemble and maintain office furniture.
  • Determine need for replacement parts and supplies and order as appropriate.
  • Install and maintain a variety of small items including paper towel dispensers, bulletin boards, and shelving units.
  • Complete Daily Time Sheet in AIMS database to track work orders and preventative maintenance.
  • Maintain age-specific safety precautions.
  • Promote teamwork and participate effectively in group decision making.
  • Continually seek ways to improve processes and reduce waste.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
