About The Position

Join our dedicated facilities team at UPMC Somerset, where your skills in general maintenance and multi-craft trades help ensure a safe, efficient, and comfortable environment for patients and staff. In this role, you'll work rotating evening and night shift to support the department.

Requirements

• Completion of a high school diploma/GED is required.
• A total of 2 years of general maintenance-related work experience is required.
• Healthcare experience is preferred.
• Completion of a High School Vocational program or Trade School is preferred.
• Military experience considered.

Responsibilities

• Perform general maintenance tasks and preventive maintenance on various equipment with minimal supervision.
• Demonstrate working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, carpentry, mechanical systems, and facility operations.
• Maintain clean and safe workspaces including equipment rooms and shops, following infection control procedures.
• Operate and maintain building systems including direct digital control (DDC) and water chemistry testing.
• Complete and maintain shift logs such as medical gas checks and equipment room rounds.
• Handle minor plumbing repairs including soldering, leak fixes, and drain clearing.
• Perform minor carpentry, painting, and general cleaning duties in mechanical support areas.
• Conduct maintenance and inspections on hospital beds and related equipment.
• Record daily work orders and submit hours to supervisor promptly.
• Support snow removal operations and work effectively in adverse weather conditions.
