Requirements

  • Continuously pursues a certification in Bio-Medical Equipment Technology (CBET) through classrooms, training, seminars, and self-study.
  • Licensed electrician or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of blueprints with which to lay out minor projects.
  • Knowledge of electrical and pneumatic control, national electrical and national fire protection association codes.
  • Able to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Relevant experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains and repairs electronic equipment, circuit breaker panels, electrical equipment, fire alarm, and nurse call and equipment controls.
  • Installs new electrical circuits, lights, motors, and equipment. Assists in electrical modifications. Infrequently removes motors of all weights, sometimes extremely heavy, from very cramped spaces.
  • Conducts annual inspections of the electrical distribution system.
  • Services, inspects, and repairs fire alarm and nurse call systems.
  • May be requested to perform general maintenance work when necessary. Will be on the stat call list during off normal hours (after 3:30 pm and Saturday and Sunday) to respond to stat calls. Employee will be eligible for stat call benefits as outlined in the administrative manual.
  • Works overtime and rotates shifts when required.
  • Maintains current knowledge of safety codes and regulations governing health-care facilities.
  • Performs assigned preventative maintenance within time frame allotted.
  • Is able to troubleshoot equipment and implement problem-solving plan.
  • Utilizes appropriate reference materials such as employee handbook, departmental procedures, safety manual, equipment manual, etc.
  • Exhibits dependability, including reporting to work on time and working all scheduled shifts.
  • Follows daily work schedule as assigned maintaining proper productivity standards.
  • Maintains all equipment in clean condition for the next shift.
  • Follows best safety practices in performing all job duties.
