About The Position

General laborers perform a variety of administrative and department specific functions. Laborers will be placed in Tribal departments that participate in the program and will assist in various departments. Interns are required to use judgment in applying general policies and procedures governing professional behavior. They are expected to adhere to the confidentiality policies of the workplace, its clients and employees. They will perform related work as required or assigned by the host department site and will take a proactive role in their assigned department by contributing thoughtful and valuable work.

Requirements

  • Candidates must be a priority one (P1)
  • Have not previously been in the General Labor program.
  • This position is not eligible for transferring into from another position.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must have a strong desire to learn and grow professionally.
  • Must obtain the Servsafe Food Handlers certification.
  • Must obtain CPR & First Aide certification.
  • Must have a drivers license or obtain one in 6 months.
  • Basic personal computer skills including electronic mail, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment (copier, fax, etc.).
  • Must be able to work with American Indian people and be sensitive to their culture.
  • Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures. Report all unsafe activities to supervisor and/or Human Resources.
  • Participate in proactive team efforts of Bear River Band of the Rohnerville Rancheria.
  • Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill.
  • Must be able to work all shifts, weekends, holidays & special events as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Provide office reception and correspondence as needed such as answering phones, e-mails and processing incoming calls and communications.
  • Assist staff with general office duties including, but not limited to, copying, record keeping, collecting documents, filing, research, and general coordination.
  • Assist staff with general maintenance duties including, but not limited to, mowing, weed eating, collecting trash, sweeping, moping, and general clean up.
  • Contributes to team efforts by assisting staff with their projects as necessary.
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings.
  • Attend and participate in all in-person and virtual trainings, activities, workshops, and classes assigned.
  • Be challenged to find innovative solutions to unique department challenges and continuously evolving needs.
  • Perform duties and complete assignments assigned by the Department Management.
  • Will actively participate in an exit interview upon completion of the program.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
