About The Position

Perform all duties necessary as a General Laborer under the general direction of the Department Manager in the various departments. While performing duties, role is flexible to improve how work is done, to streamline processes, and meet deadlines.

Requirements

  • Must be able to work your assigned hours and shifts
  • Must be able to stand for the duration of each shift
  • Safety glasses or splash goggles, hearing protection, and slip resistant shoes

Responsibilities

  • Chick Puller: Responsible for pulling buggies containing newly hatched chicks from hatchers and moving them into position for the Separator Room Operator. If there is a problem with chick quality or any mechanical issues, you are responsible for immediately notifying a member of management or maintenance. Responsible for general cleaning and storing of necessary tools used in your job. While working as a Chick Puller you are also responsible for cleaning the hatchers, and placing racks of eggs inside of incubators and cleaning them as well. In this role, you are required to maintain proper data and records. It is everyone’s responsibility to pick up loose chicks off the floor, regardless of if it is a good chick or a cull chick.
  • Separator Room Operator: Responsible for operating the separator room equipment during chick processing. Push hatcher buggies onto the infeed chain loader of the separator equipment and removing the dollies from the de-stacker. Must monitor chicks throughout processing and visually inspect chicks when you remove hatcher lids. Responsible for emptying the shells barrels and cleaning the screens of the shell vacuum to maximize performance. Required to use a foam gun PI-2200. If there is a problem with chick quality or any mechanical issues, you are responsible for immediately notifying a member of management or maintenance. Must maintain data and records on separator room temperature and flock processing. It is everyone’s responsibility to pick up loose chicks off the floor, regardless of if it is a good chick or a cull chick.
  • Hatcher Cleaner: Establish a uniform procedure for cleaning and sanitizing hatchers. Must remove all non-fixed equipment and loose hatch debris and thoroughly clean the hatchers, plenums, and halls. Responsible for cleaning and sanitizing the hatchers, hatcher room, and hatcher hallway as well. Must sweep and shovel up all loose hatch debris. Required to use a high-pressure hose to clean certain areas. Must maintain proper data and records for the job. It is everyone’s responsibility to pick up loose chicks off the floor, regardless if it is a good chick or a cull chick.
