About The Position

GFL Environmental is looking for a motivated, hands-on General Laborer to join our team in Morristown, TN. This is more than just a labor role; it is a gateway into the waste industry and a direct path for those interested in Mechanical and Fleet Maintenance. While your primary focus will be maintaining the cleanliness and presentation of our fleet, you will work closely with our shop team, gaining exposure to heavy equipment and vehicle systems. Key Responsibilities Fleet Aesthetics & Maintenance: Perform high-pressure washing and detailing of commercial trucks and heavy equipment to ensure GFL's professional image. Shop & Yard Support: Assist the Maintenance Manager and Mechanics with shop organization, parts moving, and general site upkeep. Vehicle Operation: Safely operate site vehicles, including pickup trucks and sweepers, to move equipment around the yard. Preventative Care: Identify and report visible equipment issues (leaks, tire wear, or damage) to the mechanical team during the cleaning process. Equipment Fueling: Ensure all trucks and machinery are fueled and ready for the next day's routes. Safety Compliance: Work strictly within GFL, federal, and state safety guidelines to maintain a zero-incident environment.

Requirements

  • Valid Driver’s License: A clean, valid Driver's License is required for moving vehicles on-site.
  • Mechanical Interest: A strong desire to learn about diesel engines, hydraulics, or general truck maintenance.
  • Reliability: Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and maintain a consistent schedule.
  • Education: High school diploma or GED preferred, but not required.
