About The Position

The role of a Laborer involves keeping the facility litter-free and performing various load checker duties under close supervision. The position requires assisting with other projects as needed, primarily focusing on general laborer duties. Responsibilities include picking up litter, managing recyclable materials, and maintaining cleanliness on-site. Additionally, the role may involve inspecting and recording incoming loads, ensuring hazardous waste is kept out of the facility, and interacting with customers professionally.

Requirements

• Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying.
• Principles and practices of job site safety, potential job hazards, and state and local regulations.
• Ability to work under pressure, handle stressful situations and maintain flexibility.
• Ability to maintain high levels of activity or productivity.
• Ability to understand safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to communicate effectively with peers, supervisors and customers.
• Ability to communicate on a two-way radio or similar device.
• Basic Computer programs.
• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Valid Driver's License Required.

Responsibilities

• Picks up blown litter on site and adjoining roads.
• Brings full litter garbage bags to pick-up truck or tipping table.
• Picks up metal or other recyclable materials from tipping table.
• Relieves Spotter during lunch break and other times as needed.
• Repairs drainage flumes.
• Moves and/or constructs wind fences.
• Keeps property clean and litter free.
• Assists with covering garbage with tarps.
• If working at compost site, removes contaminants from organics.
• Inspects and records daily incoming loads.
• Keeps hazardous and otherwise prohibited waste out of facility.
• Generates documentation of efforts made to keep hazardous and otherwise prohibited waste out of facility.
• Deals with customers in a professional manner.
• Responds to customers politely, courteously or firmly, as the situation dictates.
• Answers customer questions.
• Takes appropriate action in accordance with amount and types of materials found, and customer attitude.
• Works in a respectful manner with fellow employees.
• Keeps accurate daily records.
