General Laboratory Technician - Physical Science
About The Position
In accordance with the Mission and Values of Southwestern Illinois College, this is a technical support position responsible for the performance of laboratory tasks such as preparation of laboratory supplies, specimens and equipment for experiments and the care of laboratory equipment and supplies. Employees in this class initially receive specific written or oral instructions and direct supervision in the performance of newly assigned tasks, but the degree of supervision lessens as the work becomes more familiar. Work is reviewed by the Science Lab Coordinator through inspections and by observations of results obtained. This position requires close coordination with the Dean of Math and Sciences, Department Chair of Biology and Department Chair of Physical Sciences. Work station is at the Belleville campus, but involves preparing materials for science classes at multiple campuses.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in science-related discipline is required.
- Two Years of experience in laboratory or related work is required.

- Master's degree is preferred.
