About The Position

The General Laboratory Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of a busy clinical hospital laboratory in the Atlanta area. This role involves managing administrative functions, ensuring regulatory compliance, and maintaining quality assurance within the laboratory. The position requires leadership skills to supervise laboratory supervisors, clinical staff, and support staff, while also contributing to the laboratory's operational efficiency and productivity.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in biology or a related field.
  • ASCP or equivalent certification.
  • Three (3) years of leadership experience in a laboratory setting.
  • Ability to manage and author processes and procedures.
  • Experience in quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) of laboratory departments.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in fiscal and budgeting responsibilities.
  • Strong presentation skills for training staff on technical information.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate laboratory operations in consultation with pathologists and report results according to hospital and public health protocols.
  • Ensure maintenance of medical laboratory equipment performance by developing operations, quality, and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Maintain medical laboratory supplies inventory and anticipate needed supplies.
  • Monitor laboratory productivity, identifying peak and slack periods.
  • Participate in the hospital quality assurance program and perform proficiency surveys.
  • Maintain medical laboratory staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, training employees, and managing performance.
