About The Position

An international leader in aviation Heroux-Devtek, the world’s 3rd largest producer of landing gear, serves the civil and military aerospace markets from production facilities in North America, Europe and United Kingdom. With its most recent acquisitions, Heroux-Devtek is bolstering its status as one of the foremost landing gear, actuation and hydraulic system designers and manufacturers in the global aerospace industry. Information on the division: Located in Strongsville, the 90+ employee facility (100,000 sq. ft.) is one of Héroux-Devtek’s centers of excellence for the final assembly of landing gear. As part of the Central Division, you will lead P&L responsible for critical machining operations of major commercial aircraft programs such as the Boeing 777 and Embraer E-2, and important military programs as F-18, F-35, C-17 and C-130. With a strong focus on latest technology of manufacturing processes with machining automation and techniques we aim to remain the best value producer of complex landing gear components. Summary: The Material Handling role involves performing a wide range of physical tasks, such as lifting, loading, cleaning, and operating machinery, to support various industrial projects like construction, manufacturing, and warehousing. The role will provide essential support by preparing work sites, transporting materials, and maintaining a safe and organized environment, often working as part of a team.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Strong communications skills, both written and verbal in the English language
  • Ability to interact with peers in a positive, professional and productive manner
  • Able to read blueprints that identify and explain the function of mechanical, electrical and hydraulic components.
  • Proven problem solving skills and experience/exposure to lean manufacturing.
  • Ability to use hand and machine tools.

Responsibilities

  • Operating an Overhead Crane and Forklift to move or organize items in the plant
  • Support maintenance and machinists with oiling parts, cleaning, light maintenance to machinery
  • Load aircraft parts on metal and wooden skids for shipment
  • Will place parts on Y-Carts and move to next location
  • Able to read Router operations to establish next location to move the part
  • Able to assist maintenance, shipping, plant supervisors, and EH&S as required
  • Vacuum Grit from Grit Room for outside shipments
  • Empty chemical containers and properly place them in designated areas
  • Will label parts for quick identification
  • Will replenish fasteners and plating items in designated metal bins
  • Will assist in 5S and Continuous Improvement Projects
