Position Overview: The Metal Finishing Process Support Specialist is responsible supporting, assisting, and maintaining production throughput in accordance with customer and quality requirements. This includes, but not limited to, unpacking, packing, racking, unracking, demasking, and moving metal parts through other departments.

Requirements

  • Team-oriented with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to utilize a pallet jack to move skids around the facility.
  • Exhibit effective prioritization skills while upholding accuracy and consistency under pressure and/or short deadlines.
  • Ability to handle critical parts by carefully following all best practices, instructions, and procedures.
  • Ability to learn and use MIL’s custom production software.
  • Visual acuity: ability to see small details with own or corrected vision.
  • Must have good dexterity in hands, wrists, and fingers to perform job duties without damage to parts.
  • Capable of standing for extended periods of time and handling parts ranging in size and weight.
  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • PC literate with at least a basic understanding of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Basic arithmetic skills (i.e., add, subtract, multiply, divide).
  • Able to read, write, and speak in English, Bilingual in Spanish/English is a plus.
  • Individual must be authorized to work in the U.S.
  • This position requires access to ITAR-controlled information and materials. The successful candidate must meet all ITAR eligibility requirements, including being a U.S. person as defined by ITAR.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a production environment, racking, or chemical processing experience is preferred.
  • Forklift and/or pallet jack experience a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Follow all safety, environmental, and housekeeping rules to maintain a safe working environment. All appropriate PPE must be worn.
  • Perform visual initial inspection while unpacking parts, verifying any surface defects or damage, and communicate all issues to necessary personnel.
  • Document the method that parts were packaged in so they can be protected in the same or a heightened manner when parts are being packed for shipment.
  • Pack customer parts, paying special attention to customer requirements or internal instructions.
  • Organize boxes and packaging materials.
  • Identify and select holding racks and fixtures best suited to efficiently process parts.
  • Ensure parts are accurately placed with consideration to characteristics, customer specifications, and industry standards.
  • Review established racking method and duplicate the racking for all parts, verifying there is electrical contact to parts when required.
  • Ensure parts are secured to the rack, paying special attention not to scratch or mark the parts.
  • Team lift rack onto lift.
  • Dry and clean parts after processing.
  • Remove parts from racks by relieving the pressure on racking fixture.
  • Visually inspect parts for any issues incurred during processing including damage or flaws.
  • Clean racking after use and communicate any broken or damaged areas to supervisor.
  • Remove various masking materials from parts after processing.
  • Visually inspect and remove any foreign objects (FOD) from parts prior to moving to the next department.
  • Clean parts after removing masking to ensure all adhesives are removed.
  • Review parts for consistency of masking integrity and identify any non-conformities.
  • Utilize production paperwork such as work orders, drawings, and specifications to verify all masking is removed.
  • Proactively communicate any potential issues concerning equipment or customer parts to supervisor.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, training, and audits as necessary.
  • Cross functionally support other lines or work areas as needed.
  • Complete all applicable data records and documents to sustain traceability of work performed.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.
