Requirements

  • Preferred: Associate degree in scientific field.
  • Successful completion of training for all additional assigned duties.
  • Trained and competent user of Stamford Health Laboratory and Hospital Information System-MediTech.
  • Require minimal computer skills with Microsoft office.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support to Processing area by checking tube system for specimens.
  • Complete accessioning of received specimens.
  • Distribute specimens to the testing sections.
  • Answer phone calls and provide needed support to the customers.
  • Prepares samples appropriately for testing.
  • Prepares and labels stains, reagents, and stock solutions used in the processing of specimens.
  • Maintains glassware and other materials necessary for the performance of clinical laboratory tests.
  • Learn & perform different specimen processing/loading, unloading & storage in core laboratory.
  • Perform Daily maintenance of assigned instruments under the guidance of Medical Technologist.
  • Perform Quality Controls for assigned instruments under the guidance of Medical Technologist.
  • Perform Urine and other body fluid aliquoting and specimen management function.
  • Perform routine temperature checks and management of refrigerator and freezers.
  • Help Medical technologist during downtime.
  • Organize Laboratory inventory, perform routine inventory check and order inventory.
  • Check and stock core lab workbenches with enough supplies to perform the job.
  • Help with document filling and document management.
  • Perform all LIS functions relative to the scope of her/his responsibility.
  • Order and accession Microbiology Specimens.
  • Setup cultures for specimen received in microbiology section.
  • Perform Molecular testing under the guidance of Medical Technologist.
