About The Position

GREENHOUSE WORKER (MAINTENANCE) Compensation: $17.84-$18.50/hour Status: Full-Time Year-Round; Hourly Agricultural Schedule: 35-55+ hr/week (based on Greenhouse needs) Schedules 5-6 days per week. All candidates must have Saturday & Sunday availability. Reports To: Maintenance Supervisor (Demetrio) Management is currently considering workers for year-round employment within a Maintenance Worker role. There are 1-3 positions available at this time. Maintenance Workers assist with maintaining, cleaning, and performing preventative maintenance at the greenhouse facility in Brighton, Colorado. This is a type of General Greenhouse Worker, and all candidates must meet the basic requirements for Greenhouse Workers, and may be assigned to different greenhouse departments depending on the time of the year. The position is located at either our North facility (in Brighton, CO). The Maintenance Worker must be able to work both independently as well as in a small team following directions as presented by the Maintenance Supervisor. At least 6 months to 3 years of experience in general maintenance, equipment troubleshooting, and use of basic maintenance tools/equipment (hand tools, drills, etc.) is required. Any experience maintaining greenhouse equipment, welding, basic electrical, welding, boilers, or water/plumbing is preferred. Experience with Spanish speakers or fluency in Spanish preferred but not required. ~GENERAL WORKER ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES~ Work within greenhouse teams to assure quality products are delivered to our customers, maintain area cleanliness, follow instructions, and act in accordance to rules and regulations set by TGE. Some functions may include but are not limited to: Production/Growing/Maintenance Install/maintain irrigation systems and water lines. Dig and maintain ditches, clear debris from field and clean/maintain greenhouse buildings, structures, equipment, and agricultural work areas. Assist with building, maintaining, or repairing greenhouse / farm areas. Build/repair fences or barriers. Build, maintain, or break down racks. Follow instructions in a way that will produce high quality work within the projected time. Assists and performs equipment maintenance on Greenhouse technology and systems including but not limited to: Greenhouse structures, greenhouse work areas, heating systems, cooling systems, irrigation systems, growing equipment, electrical systems, guest worker housing, and general grounds Assists and performs installations, maintenance/repairs, or construction tasks as assigned by Maintenance Supervisor/Manager Performs preventative maintenance procedures on a scheduled basis. Including cleaning, testing, treating, and calibrating per Maintenance Supervisor/Manager instructions. Maintain and utilize maintenance equipment and safety gear. Inspect properties and communicate with Maintenance Supervisor/ Manager regarding proper grounds keeping, general cleanup, and maintenance. In addition to the above responsibilities, General Greenhouse Workers will be required to assist with various projects around the greenhouse as needed and directed by their Supervisor. Supervisors routinely communicate and check-in with workers, however workers may be required to work independently, or in small groups following supervisor instructions is given to a primary contact within the group and only check-in periodically related to progress.

Requirements

  • Must be 21 years or older and be eligible to work in the United States.
  • Must have basic proficiency in electrical/plumbing repair. (Including but not limited to 1-3 years’ experience working in greenhouse maintenance OR completing basic residential repairs including: connecting a sink, digging drainage tunnels, laying down new pipes, identifying a breaker, connecting wires under supervision, and following safety requirements related to electrical safety such as lock-out tag-out.)
  • Must be able to complete work at heights above 10 feet while using adequate fall protection
  • Must be able to work in all Greenhouse conditions including wet, humid, dusty, dirty, and extreme hot/cold temperatures.
  • Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently push/pull racks on wheels of up to 100lbs, and occasionally move benches or product of up to 50 pounds.
  • Job requires employees to be on their feet for long periods of time, sit, climb, balance, stoop, squat, kneel, crouch or crawl.
  • Must have specific vision abilities: close vision, distance vision, and color vision
  • Must be able to work as a part of team and communicate in a timely and respectful manner when speaking to clients, other greenhouse teams, managers, and coworkers.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outside weather conditions, and risk of electrical shock. To prevent injury, employees must abide by the safety procedures set by Tagawa Greenhouse Ent., LLC.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Nice To Haves
