About The Position

The non-union General Foreperson is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing multiple field crews and ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality vegetation management operations. This position serves as a vital link between crews and company leadership, providing guidance, support, and accountability in daily operations. The General Foreperson plays an active role in planning and execution while maintaining strong communication with internal departments, including Human Resources, Safety, Operations, Billing, and Payroll. Success in this role requires a commitment to safety, team development, and operational excellence.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two years of experience in a Foreperson role or equivalent leadership position.
  • At least 12 months’ experience in vegetation management, utility line clearance, or a related field.
  • Valid Class C Driver’s License and ability to meet company vehicle operation requirements.
  • CPR and First Aid Certification (must be obtained within 90 days of hire).
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations, including OSHA and ANSI standards.
  • Ability to work in various outdoor conditions and perform physically demanding tasks when needed.
  • Local to Wisconsin
  • Completion of the following training programs: 1. Groundperson Training 2. Climber Training 3. Annual Aerial Rescue Training 4. Tree Feller Training 5. Bucket Operator Training
  • Successful completion of: 1. LCCP Test 2. LCQP Book 3. Foreperson Test (minimum score of 70%) 4. General Foreperson Test (minimum score of 70%)

Nice To Haves

  • Commercial Pesticide Applicator License (Category J and/or Category E)
  • ISA, Utility Specialist
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Prior experience managing multiple crews in a field operations setting.
  • Proficiency in using technology for documentation, reporting, and communication.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and manage multiple Forepersons and their crews, ensuring adherence to safety standards and performance expectations.
  • Conduct pre-job planning, delegate assignments, and oversee daily operations to maximize efficiency.
  • Inspect and maintain vehicles, equipment, and personal protective gear to ensure safety and compliance.
  • Perform post-work inspections and submit all required documentation to relevant departments.
  • Communicate with customers to address concerns, provide updates, and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Conduct safety tailboards, training sessions, and performance evaluations for crew members.
  • Enforce company policies related to attendance, job performance, and workplace conduct.
  • Recognize and encourage outstanding crew performance while addressing any disciplinary issues as needed.
  • Work closely with internal departments to streamline processes and support operational goals.
