About The Position

The Powerline General Foreman is responsible for supervising and coordinating the work of field crews installing, maintaining, and repairing overhead and underground electrical power lines. This position plays a key role in ensuring that all operations are performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with industry standards and regulations. The General Foreman will oversee projects, monitor crew performance, and liaise with various stakeholders to ensure successful project completion.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; additional technical training preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in powerline construction, maintenance, or repair.
  • At least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role overseeing powerline crews.
  • OSHA safety certifications preferred.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and guide teams.
  • Knowledge of powerline construction methods, electrical theory, and best practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and technical specifications.
  • Familiarity with industry safety protocols and regulations.
  • Must be able to pass a drug test and background check.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Nice To Haves

  • Journeyman Lineman certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Manage, train, and supervise a team of linemen, apprentices, and other crew members.
  • Coordinate daily work assignments, ensuring tasks are completed safely and within schedule.
  • Lead by example, setting high standards for work quality, safety, and productivity.
  • Plan and oversee powerline construction, maintenance, and repair projects from start to finish.
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and other departments to ensure job requirements are met.
  • Ensure adequate materials, tools, and equipment are available for each project phase.
  • Enforce company safety policies and OSHA regulations to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Conduct safety meetings, job briefings, and hazard assessments to educate crew members on safe work practices.
  • Report and investigate incidents, ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
  • Inspect work areas to ensure quality standards are met and identify areas for improvement.
  • Ensure that all work complies with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as company standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of completed work, materials used, and time spent on tasks.
  • Maintain clear and open communication with clients, inspectors, and community representatives.
  • Address client questions, concerns, and feedback related to project progress and completion.
