About The Position

Overview In this role as General Foreman, the selected candidate will report to the Chief Docking Engineer on board the US Navy owned floating dry dock SHIPPINGPORT (ARDM 4) located at Naval Submarine Base (SUBASE), New London. Duties include, but are not limited to: Manage three Docking Supervisors and all assigned trades. Provide daily direction and technical assistance to supervisors and hourly personnel. Manage the performance of all personnel with regards to safety, quality, cost and schedule performance as well as promoting and implementing process improvements. Be responsible for the administration and execution of associated policies and procedures that support manning requirements, training and qualification requirements to support docking & undocking evolutions and maintenance requirements of SHIPPINGPORT. Capable of liaising with all levels of both Electric Boat (EB) supporting departments and US Navy organizations i.e., EB Medical, EB Training, EB Radiological Controls, EB Transportation, Naval Submarine Support Facility (NSSF), Supervisor of Shipbuilding Groton (SSGR), Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA), Submarine Force Atlantic (COMSUBLANT), Naval Reactors, Naval Shipyard management and SUBASE organizations (Public Works, Transportation, Environmental) that support operations and maintenance. Must have the capability to manage/oversee numerous programs including but not limited to Gage Calibration, Electrostatic Discharge, Departmental Security Representative, Supply (both EB and Navy Supply system) and the SHIPPINGPORT Configuration Control program. Must have familiarity or experience with the US Navy Material Maintenance Management (3M) Program, Joint Fleet Maintenance Manual (JFMM) to support in assisting the planning and execution of periodic maintenance availabilities and overhaul periods. Candidate must be willing to work all shifts and overtime as required to support onboard operations.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 3+ years of supervisory experience in trades, manufacturing, and/or military
  • 7+ years of experience in trades, manufacturing, and/or military
  • Experience with planning, construction, manpower and testing activities
  • Must have proficiency with the following computer skills, EWP, AWPPS, Outlook, Excel and Word.
  • Must qualify as a Limited Radiation Worker.
  • Must obtain an initial Interim Secret clearance and eventual full Secret clearance as a condition of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Any prior docking or ship handling experience
  • Prior military experience with 3M, MCMS (gage calibration), AWN/VSB/WISP (corrective maintenance tracking)
  • Have an active Secret clearance OR have held one in the last 10 years
