The position involves performing and coordinating advanced transportation engineering operations or maintenance support work, including construction and complex maintenance contract inspection, light and heavy equipment operation, roadway maintenance, traffic control, assisting the public during emergencies, and training other employees. Employees at this level establish their own work plans and priorities to meet set objectives, with issues rarely referred to supervisors. The role includes responsibilities for both General Engineering Tech I and II levels, with increasing complexity and leadership responsibilities for the latter.
