About The Position

The General Education Paraprofessional at Abbie Grove Elementary plays a crucial role in supporting classroom teachers by addressing the physical and instructional needs of students. Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid Iowa Paraeducator Certificate (preferred).
• Experience working with children (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Help teacher prepare instructional materials and classroom displays.
• Help maintain a neat and orderly classroom.
• Assist with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment.
• Help teacher keep administrative records and prepare required reports.
• Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
• Supervise students throughout the school day, including lunchroom, bus, and playground duties.
• Keep teacher(s) informed of special needs or problems of individual students.
• Participate in staff development training programs, faculty meetings, and special events as assigned.
• Assist with academic, social, emotional, and health needs of students.
• Demonstrate integrity and maintain confidentiality.
• Interact respectfully and appropriately with staff, students, and visitors.
• Maintain positive and effective communication with all school personnel.
• Uphold and adhere to safety rules and policies of the Ankeny Community School District.
• Attend work on a regular and routine basis to avoid disruption to district operations.
• Respond to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns.

Benefits

• Competitive salary of $15.00 per hour.
• Part-time work hours from 7:30 A.M. to 1:45 P.M.
