About The Position

JOB PRIORITY: To support the classroom teacher in providing a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment that nurtures the academic and social-emotional development of young learners in a diverse, internationally-minded school community. TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Under the direction and supervision of a certified classroom teacher: Support the implementation of developmentally appropriate learning activities that align with early childhood education best practices and international education themes. Assist with the preparation, organization, distribution, and clean-up of classroom materials and learning centers. Provide one-on-one and small group support to students to reinforce learning and promote independence. Encourage positive behavior, social-emotional growth, and respectful interactions among students. Help maintain a safe, clean, and inclusive classroom environment. Assist with transitions, routines, and classroom management throughout the school day. Participate in ongoing professional development, including training related to early childhood education, cultural competence, and the international frameworks. Support the school's commitment to multilingualism, global citizenship, and inquiry-based learning. Perform other duties as assigned by the classroom teacher, principal, or designee.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree, minimum of 60 college credits, or successful completion of the ParaPro Assessment (or equivalent).
  • Experience or interest in working with early childhood or elementary-age children.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with students, staff, and families from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
  • Commitment to fostering a culturally responsive and globally aware classroom environment.
  • Additional qualifications as deemed appropriate by the Board of Education.
