About The Position

To support the classroom teacher in creating an engaging, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment that fosters early childhood development through academic instruction and integration of the visual and performing arts.

Requirements

• Associate's degree, minimum of 60 college credits, or successful completion of the ParaPro Assessment (or equivalent).
• Experience or interest in working with early childhood or elementary-age children.
• Ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with students, staff, and families from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
• Interest in or appreciation for the arts, including music, drama, dance, or visual arts.
• Additional qualifications as deemed appropriate by the Board of Education.

Responsibilities

• Support classroom instruction by assisting with developmentally appropriate learning activities that integrate creative expression and the visual/performing arts.
• Prepare, organize, and manage instructional materials and supplies related to both academic content and arts-based learning experiences.
• Work one-on-one and in small groups with students to reinforce learning objectives and promote independence.
• Encourage student creativity, collaboration, and participation in classroom and school-wide arts activities.
• Assist in maintaining a safe, organized, and inclusive classroom environment where young learners feel valued and inspired.
• Support classroom routines, student transitions, and positive behavior expectations throughout the school day.
• Participate in professional development related to early childhood education, the arts, and the school's magnet theme.
• Help foster a culturally responsive and creatively enriched learning environment that reflects the diverse talents and backgrounds of students.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the classroom teacher, principal, or designee.
