About The Position

Units: ED/med surg A holiday no rotation In collaboration with the Registered Nurse (RN), provides safe, quality care for patients/residents according to individualized care plan that supports patient/resident outcomes. Treats all patients/residents with dignity and respect. Know, follow and maintain resident rights. Assists with over sight of non-clinical and support staff personnel.

  • Operates equipment as outlined on orientation checklists, policy and procedures.
  • Participates in equipment inservices and competencies as they relate to role expectations.
  • Performs job skills outlined on orientation checklist as they relate to role expectations.
  • Overall vision and hearing is necessary with or without assisted device(s).
  • Frequently required to sit/stand/walk for long periods of time. May require frequent postural changes such as stooping, kneeling or crouching.
  • Overall dexterity is required including handling, reaching, grasping, fingering and feeling.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous direct patient care experience preferred.
  • Medical terminology or related experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assesses patient health care needs, nursing care requirements and the delivery of nursing care for all assigned patient, recognizing the specific individual needs of the neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient.
  • Plans and prioritizes care required to meet assigned patients' health care needs.
  • Implements nursing actions in accordance with established standards of nursing practice and established policy.
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of nursing care to ensure responsible and appropriate care is rendered to patients.
  • Self-Management: Holds self accountable for delivery of responsible nursing care, demonstrates effective communication skills and interpersonal relationships. Assumes responsibility for own continued development and assists with the development of other staff members.
  • Participates in Performance Improvement as required by MyMichigan Health and the job description.
  • Understands and is accountable for MyMichigan Health’s customer service standards.
