About The Position

The VA Midwest Health Care Network advocates for a Whole Health System of care in each of the Medical Centers. Requirements

  • A degree of Doctor of Dental Surgery or dental medicine from an approved school.
  • Completed, or currently completing, a residency program in general practice or specialty, or comparable experience as a dentist actively involved in treating medically compromised patients.
  • Currently hold, or will hold, a current, full and unrestricted license to practice dentistry in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
  • Must be proficient in written and spoken English.
  • Must pass pre-employment physical examination.
  • Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).

Nice To Haves

  • 3 or more years of professional practice clinical experience.
  • Hold Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Hold Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification if performing conscious sedation.

Responsibilities

  • Administrative and clinical oversight of Dental Clinic which includes Staff Dentists, Specialty Dentists, Hygienists, Assistants and Administrative support staff.
  • Provides timely clinical determinations for Dental Community Care Request for Services (RFS).
  • Provides full range of dental procedures to include treatment of commonly encountered dental diseases/dental health problems.
  • Provides prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases, injuries, and malformations of the teeth, jaws and human oral cavity and its adjacent tissues and structures.
  • Develops performance metrics for all provider classification to drive performance and to direct desired behavior.
  • Actively engaged in Quality Improvement activities including compliance and the VA credentialing/privileging process.
  • Utilizes customer service data for service recovery and service improvement strategies.
  • Prepares and analyzes data through various reports and data sources to facilitate management of the department.
  • Knowledgeable in compliance with accreditation standards and other survey/oversight entities.
