About The Position

We are in search of a highly skilled and strategic General Counsel to serve as the principal legal advisor for our organization. This key role involves overseeing all legal affairs, ensuring strict compliance with relevant laws and regulations, and delivering expert legal insights to our leadership team. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of complex legal frameworks and be adept at navigating the intricacies of corporate law, while also demonstrating exceptional communication and analytical skills to influence decision-making at the highest levels of our organization.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to, and in good standing with, the State Bar of Georgia.
  • Minimum of 5 years of legal experience, with experience in real estate law, corporate governance, and regulatory compliance.
  • Proven track record of providing strategic legal counsel to senior leadership and managing complex legal issues.
  • Strong understanding of federal, state, and local real estate laws and regulations.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with litigation management and working with outside counsel.
  • Commitment to ethical standards and integrity.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver comprehensive and expert legal counsel to the leadership team and various departments, addressing a diverse array of issues.
  • Ensure that the organization adheres to all relevant federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
  • Oversee and manage all litigation, with a focus on commercial disputes, landlord/tenant issues, and eviction proceedings.
  • Lead efforts in debt collection and recovery, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and maximizing recovery outcomes.
  • Advise on real estate transactions, property tax matters, and appeals.
  • Represent the company in debt collection lawsuits, including preparing and filing legal documents, attending hearings, and handling post-judgment proceedings.
  • Prepare, analyze, and negotiate a diverse range of contracts, agreements, and legal documents to effectively protect the organization’s interests.
